Why the Pizza Barn? Why Accord? Allow us to explain. . .
Tanya was born and raised in Accord yet left soon after graduation. Went to school for SO MANY years up and down the east coast and finally settled in Boston with her doctorate degree in Exercise Physiology & Master's in Acupuncture. Ran her own acupuncture & personal training business in Boston for 6 years. Was always into health & organic "stuff". (Michael said my face cream smelled like DIRT!)
Michael (the "Mikester" as he likes to call himself) was born in Long Island then moved here when he was a freshman in high school. Moved to FL 3 years after high school & spent the past 15 years baking in the FL sunshine. He owned & operated 2 pizzerias in FL then sold them to pursue real estate and open his own brokerage firm. (Tanya said I had more shoes than any man should have!)
Life was "fine" for both of us, so we thought.
THEN Facebook came along! Yes, Facebook!! A mutual friend of ours (best man in the wedding) reconnected us after 18 years of no contact. Literally, 2 months after our 1st phone call, Michael was flying to Boston for a visit, then shipped his clothes a month later then a month after that we put a deposit down on Mohonk for our wedding. Talk about whirlwind romance! I used to ask my friends, "How do you know when he's the one". The consistent, although unhelpful, answer was always - "you just know!" They were right!!
So, we continued to visit my family in Accord and found the "Barn" sitting empty, yet full - of potential that is. After a few months of talking about it, we decided to move back home and open an all natural and organic pizzeria. Michael knows pizza, and I know health so it was a perfect union! Alas, the Pizza Barn was born 2 weeks after we got married!!
We are so blessed to be back home, close to friends & family, making new friends, and giving back to the community that gave so much to us. Thank you!
P.S. The "Mikester" who would previously only use products that smelled good (full of chemicals!) has been morphed into a man who will only use all natural products and eat only organic! (NOW, he uses MY dirt smelling face cream and loves it!!)
